The 2024 1/4 Troy Ounce Gold Maple Leaf coin is the second smallest version of the premier bullion coin of Canada and is minted by The Royal Canadian Mint. This popular bullion coin has been in production since 1979, originally produced to a fineness of .999 until 1982 when .9999 fineness was adopted. Special edition .99999 or 5 nines coins are produced from time to time. The 2024 coin is decorated on the reverse with the famous Canadian Maple Leaf design plus the weight and fineness. A recent addition to these coins is a small additional Maple Leaf engraved on the reverse and laser marked with the last two digits of the year of issue as a security feature. The obverse of the coin bears the portrait of King Charles III. This coin is legal tender in Canada. Whilst these are bullion coins, they are often bought as collectibles in addition to being investment pieces.
